Diagnostic imaging the barn vetsRadiology

The Barn Animal Practice has a digital X-ray machine which allows high-quality images to be taken faster, aiding us to reach a diagnosis more quickly.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses ultrasound waves to create an image of your pet’s internal organs, allowing us to assess them for any abnormalities or in some cases pregnancy.

In many cases, ultrasound can be performed consciously with the patient lying on their side. Sometimes we may need to perform ultrasound under sedation or anaesthesia to gain the best possible images or to take samples from certain organs.

Diagnostic imagingEndoscopy

This is a minimally invasive procedure where a small camera can be used to look inside the body. It is commonly used to explore the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory system (bronchoscopy).

We are also able to take small samples of tissue from within the gut to help gain a diagnosis without the need to perform invasive surgery.
