facilities diagnostic imaging suiteDigital Radiography

We use digital x-ray technology to be able to take excellent quality images very rapidly. These images can be saved to your pet’s record and shared with other veterinary professionals if needed.

We also have dental digital radiography at The Barn Animal Practice. This allows us to routinely take full mouth radiographs of all our patients to ensure the best possible treatment.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses ultrasound waves to create an image of your pet’s internal organs, allowing us to assess them for any abnormalities or in some cases pregnancy.

In many cases ultrasound can be performed consciously with the patient lying on their side. Sometimes we may need to perform ultrasound under sedation or anaesthesia to gain the best possible images or to take samples from certain organs.

Endoscopy

One of our biggest priorities is reducing the impact and recovery time of our patients when trying to reach a diagnosis. Endoscopy can help us do this as it is a minimally invasive procedure where a small camera can be used to look inside the body. It is commonly used to explore the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory system (bronchoscopy).

We are also able to take small samples of tissue from within the gut to help gain a diagnosis without the need to perform an invasive surgery.
